SMALL HANDY : Small tonnages in Pacific market last week was decreased due to long holiday is coming. In China/ Far East range 10,000-13,000 dwt open North China was rated arround $4,500-$5,500 for a trip from China to South East Asia range. Some owners are willing to fix their vessel with lower hire if vessels open around end Dec – early Jan. Whilst, Brokers said hire rate In South East Asia is similar to compare with China/ Far East range, 10,000 -13,000 dwt in South East Asia range was rated around $4,500-5,500 level subject to speed and consumption for trip within Pacific. For India range, brokers said market is still negative due too lack of cargo situation and it may be not improved in near future. Dwt 11k open ECI was rated $5,000 bss passing Penang while owners need $5,000 DOP ECI port.
HANDYSIZE : In Mediterranean region, Owner said there were some improvements in both cargo flow and hire level which recorded around $11,300 at closing day. In ECSA and USG remain the high market level with more opening orders for all directions. A 32K DWT was fixed at $22,600 for trip with grain from Brazil to Africa. Pacific region was reported with slight increase in market during the week. 30K DWT was rated around $7,600 for trip within SEA range. Some improvement from Aussie market that a 32K was fixed at $9,500 Dop Singapore redel China range. Meanwhile, China and Feast areas remain active with southbound cargo that a 28K DWT heard was discuss at $8,500 for trip from North China to ECI. There was increase in West Coast India and Persian gulf due to the limited open tonnage, partly affected by Suez channel issues. A 34k DWT was rate at low-teen while some Charterers still expected for rate at $8,000 – $9,000 .
SUPRAMAX : In the run up to the widespread Christmas celebrations it was limited fresh information circulating. The Atlantic began the downtrend as it ended last week with sentiment remaining poor from the US Gulf whilst brokers felt that rates and demand had remained balanced.
