Handysize
The Pacific Handy market remained relatively firm, with Australia-related employment providing support and rates showing a mixed trend across South East Asia and FEAST. South East Asia–FEAST trips were indicated around $14,000–16,000, while FEAST–SEASIA fixtures were reported at $15,500–17,000 for vessels around 33,000–36,000 DWT. Owners continued to test higher levels, with some offers reaching $19,000, although charterers remained selective.
Further south, the Indian Ocean Handy market ended the week on a firm note, supported by limited availability of larger tonnage and remaining backhaul cargoes. ECI continued to outperform WCI, with a 40,000 DWT vessel holding $16,750 for USG and $18,000 for South Pacific, while WCI–SEASIA/FEAST trips were indicated around $12,000 for a 38,000 DWT vessel. SAFR remained quiet, but rates held firm amid limited tonnage and fresh cargoes.
Overall, the Handy market is expected to remain firm to stable in the near term. Australia-related employment and limited larger-tonnage availability should provide support, although further rate increases will depend on fresh cargo enquiry. ECI is likely to remain stronger than WCI, while South East Asia and FEAST rates may continue to fluctuate within the current range.

Overall, the market remained mixed, with strong demand for Bangladesh-bound clinker continuing to support Ultramax rates, while Indonesia–China business was concluded at more moderate levels and Indian-bound employment remained softer. The near-term market direction will depend on fresh cargo enquiries and the availability of prompt tonnage across the region.
