Bên cạnh đó, tàu DWT 9.500 chở phế liệu từ Kanda đi Hải Phòng/Dung Quất, bên thuê tàu đang kì vọng mước cước low 30s, trong khi chủ tàu mong muốn mức cước cao hơn, khoảng low 40s. Tại Đông Nam Á, tàu DWT 11.500 chào cước low 20s, hoặc khoảng high 5.000 USD – low 6.000 USD/ngày cho 1 chuyến TCT cho hàng lưu huỳnh từ Mailiao đi Hạ Long; tuy nhiên, phía thuê tàu chỉ đang chào mức cước mid teens.
Handysize
For handy segment, Continent and Atlantic range firmed at almost every tenor. The curve divided along the same line as the physical board. The next session test whether the Atlantic leg can keep outrunning a Pacific that is now falling rather than flat. According to market report, a 2016 built dwt 35,000 fixed Houston to Veracruz at $21,000 and a 2015 built dwt 38,000 ship took a trip from Klaipeda via Itaqui to Santos at $22,000. Against that the South East Asia trip to Singapore and Japan fell and gave back most of it, the North China round also fell. Dwt 32,000 open South East Asia was exchange at $12,000-$13,000 for a trip within Pacific. Dwt 32,000-38,000 open North bound still can received high hire rate at around $17,000-$18,000 for a trip redelivery South East Asia.
Supramax
The Supramax/Ultramax market continued to remain relatively stable across the main trading areas. In the Atlantic, the market was broadly steady, supported by fresh cargo stems from the US Gulf and South America. An Ultramax open in Houston was fixed at around USD 36,000/day for a petcoke run to India. Meanwhile, a 61,000 DWT vessel open in North Brazil was heard fixed at USD 29,500/day plus USD 400,000 BB for a grain run to the Mediterranean. Elsewhere, a 56,000 DWT Supramax open in West Africa was heard fixed at around USD 18,500/day for a trip carrying ore to South China.
In the Pacific, a general shortage of prompt tonnage led to more noticeable movements in freight levels. In the North Pacific, fresh cargo stems were quoted at significantly higher levels than the previous week, with Ultramax rates around USD 22,000/day for delivery CJK. Chinese steel cargoes were being negotiated at around USD 24,000/day and USD 20,000/day for trips to the Mediterranean and West Africa respectively, while Red Sea and Oman-bound trips were heard around USD 23,000/day. In the South, Australian exports and clinker cargoes continued to provide support to the market. A 63,000 DWT vessel open in the Philippines was heard fixed at around USD 21,500/day for a via Australia trip to Japan. Meanwhile, a 56,000 DWT vessel in Hong Kong was fixed at USD 25,500/day for a clinker run to Chittagong.
On the Indonesia/China–Southeast Asia routes, the market was affected by a significant decline in Indonesian coal trading activity into China. A 56,000 DWT vessel open in Singapore was fixed at around USD 15,000/day for a trip to China, while a 63,000 DWT vessel open in Morowali was fixed at around USD 18,000/day for a coal run to CJK.
The Indian Ocean finished the week on a mixed note across the different loading areas. From WCI, levels remained subdued, with rates, if anything, ticking slightly lower. One 56,000 DWT vessel was fixed at around USD 11,500/day APS Kandla to China with salt. Meanwhile, in ECI, Ultramaxes continued to achieve around USD 21,000/day DOP for trips via Sumatra to WCI. In SAFR, tonnage lists appeared to tighten, with several cargoes competing for similar ships towards the end of the week. Rates were eventually heard fixed at around USD 25,000/day plus USD 250,000 BB for a RBCT to Pakistan run.
